The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) forecasts showers and thunderstorms in several Belgian provinces, The Brussel Times reports on June 18.
After a dry start to the summer, heavy rain is expected across Belgium. Thunderstorms with strong gusts of wind and hail are likely in some places, the Royal Meteorological Institute has warned.
“As in several provinces (it is not yet known which ones) we expect rainfall of between 25 and 50 mm in 24 hours, we introduced a yellow code. “There is also a possibility of very strong gusts of wind and hail during storms, especially along the border between Germany and Luxembourg.”RMI wrote.
A yellow rain warning will come into effect from midday in Brussels, as well as in the provinces of Flemish Brabant, Limburg, Antwerp, East Flanders, Liège, Hainaut, Namur, Luxembourg and Walloon Brabant. The yellow code is not only introduced on the coast and in West Flanders.
In a few days, Belgium is expected to receive a month’s worth of rain.
