The Portuguese team won a resounding victory over the Czech team in the first round match of group F of the European Football Championship (Euro 2024), which took place on June 18 at the Centralstadion stadium in Leipzig.
The first half ended in a goalless draw. In the second half of the match, the Portuguese continued to have the initiative, but the Czechs opened the scoring: in the 62nd minute, Lukasz Provod shot from outside the area into the corner after a pass from Vladimir Tsoufal.
The Portuguese rushed forward and in just seven minutes they regained their balance thanks to an own goal by Czech defender Robin Granac. Portugal’s pressure increased and resulted in Diogo Jota’s goal in the 87th minute, but it was disallowed for offside. And in the 92nd minute, the Portuguese scored a legal goal: Chic Conceição gave the victory to the favorite of the match, 2-1 in favor of the Portuguese team.
After the first round, the Turkish and Portuguese teams lead Group F, with three points each. The Czech Republic and Georgia have not yet scored any points.
