More than 33,000 doses of drugs were seized during an operation to combat drug trafficking in Portugal, The Portugal News reported on June 18.
An investigation initiated approximately a year ago by the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of the municipality of Lule led to a police operation in Lule, Tavira and Faro. During the investigation, it was possible to identify a network of drug traffickers and distributors operating in the Algarve region.
During the operation, six people (five men and one woman) suspected of illegal drug distribution were arrested and more than 33 thousand doses of various drugs were seized. The suspects were in possession of firearms, a crossbow, cars, communications equipment and counterfeit euro notes.
54 members of the Criminal Investigation Department, Special Forces, Coastal and Border Control, as well as personnel from the Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP) participated in the operation.
