The Russian team leads the overall medal table at the BRICS Games in Kazan, with 262 medals: 131 gold, 80 silver and 51 bronze.
Second place is occupied by the Belarusian team: 20 gold, 34 silver and 39 bronze medals.
The Chinese team is in third place: 17 gold medals, 12 silver and 9 bronze.
Let us remember that on June 12, the BRICS Games began in Kazan, which will last 12 days until June 24. 4,751 athletes from more than 90 countries will perform there. The competition has 27 sports, most of which are Olympic.
The holding of the BRICS Games drew criticism from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which accused Russia of politicizing sport and violating the Olympic Charter. The IOC called for a boycott of the Friendship Games, stating that athletes should not participate in them.
