Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, where a ceremony with the participation of Kim Jong-un is planned, RIA Novosti reported on June 19.
As part of the visit, after the official ceremony and photo session, Russian-Korean negotiations are planned to take place at the Kumsusan state residence.
Note that Kim Il Sung Square is named after the founder of the DPRK and was opened in 1954. It is the largest in Pyongyang.
Located on the western bank of the Taedong River, it faces the Juche Idea Monument and has the capacity to accommodate more than one hundred thousand people. The square is one of the thirteen largest squares in the world with an area of 75,000 square meters, it includes the People’s Study Palace, ceremonial stands and continues with a monument on the other side of the river.
In 2020, the central gallery was rebuilt, so the portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il were moved to the facade of the People’s Palace of Studies building.
