NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed gratitude to former US President Donald Trump for the record number of NATO member countries that met their contribution requirements to the alliance, Fox News reported on June 18.
On the TV channel Stoltenberg spoke about why, in his opinion, the United States needs to support Ukraine. According to the NATO Secretary General, member countries are increasing NATO funding due to Russia’s hostility, however, he also highlighted Trump’s insistence on this issue during his term.
“Work with [Трампом] during these four years. And the reality is that he has made it very clear that European allies need to spend more. And I agree with him.” – said Stoltenberg.
“The good news is that over the last year we have seen a significant increase in spending by European allies. We still have a long way to go, but again, compared to where we started, we are in a much better position. “I hope that those allies who have not yet reached 2% will achieve it within a few years.”he thinks.
