The Maqom International Art Festival begins on June 27 in the city of Zaamin, Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, the information portal PLOV.PRESS writes on June 18.
“The festival program, dedicated to the ancient art of maqom, included a music fair and the performance of national songs”write the portal.
It is stated that two thousand artists will participate in the festival, of which 1,300 are local and about 400 foreign artists. Spectators will see a competition of maqom singers, musicians and ensembles, as well as solo concerts by masters. The festival will last three days.
It is also reported that guests at the festival will be able to learn about national crafts and costumes. In addition, objects of fine and applied arts will be presented.
The festival will screen documentaries and feature films, as well as photography and much more. In addition, an international scientific and practical conference on the topic “Theoretical and practical foundations of the art of maqom: problems and solutions” will be held within the framework of the festival.
Let us remember that in 2018 the first international maqom art forum was held in the city of Shakhrisabz, Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. Makom is a vocal-instrumental musical genre from the Muslim East with extensive use of improvisation and a cyclical structure of works.
