North Korea said the military assistance clause in the new strategic agreement with Russia complies with international law, according to details of the text published this Thursday by the state news agency KCNA.
“If one of the two parties finds itself in a situation of war due to an armed invasion of a single country or several countries, the other party will promptly provide military and other assistance, mobilizing all possible means within its power, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and laws of the DPRK and the Russian Federation,” says an excerpt from the agreement published by the North Korean KCNA and to which the South Korean Yonhap agency had access.
The DPRK is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the official name of North Korea.
