This Thursday, South Korea expressed concern about the new strategy of cooperation between Russia and North Korea, including in the military sphere, after the countries agreed to provide mutual support in the event of an attack.
“We regret that, despite repeated warnings from the international community, Russia and North Korea signed a new treaty and openly mentioned military and technological cooperation, which is a direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions,” the department spokesman said. South Korean Foreign Minister Lim Soo-sook in a statement published by local news agency Yonhap.
Seoul assured that it would respond “strongly” to any threat to its security, working closely with the international community and other allied countries, and said the South Korean executive plans to soon announce its official position on the Moscow-Pyongyang treaty.
