The governments of Germany and Mozambique signed a collaboration agreement in the field of climate protection and the use of renewable energy sources, the Berlin Telegraph reports on June 20.
The document was signed by the Secretary of State of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Jochen Flasbarth, and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, César Francisco de Gouveia Junior.
The agreement is designed to strengthen cooperation in the use of renewable energy sources, the development of energy infrastructure and the training of specialists to work in the field of regenerative energy.
According to the German minister, Germany considers Mozambique a reliable partner with enormous potential for the development of green energy and hydrogen production.
Under the new agreement, it is planned to expand the use of renewable energy sources through the construction and modernization of solar and wind energy facilities, which will help Mozambique to significantly increase the share of green energy in the country’s overall energy mix.
It is also planned to attract investments to modernize and expand Mozambique’s electricity grid and train specialists for the energy industry, in particular the creation of educational programs and training centers in the field of regenerative energy. The signatories believe this will help Mozambique create a skilled local workforce, contributing to long-term economic growth.
