Switzerland has not allowed Spain to supply its 35mm anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine, Keystone-ATS reported on February 10, citing the Swiss State Secretariat for the Economy (SECO).
As SECO pointed out, they received a corresponding request from the Spanish government on January 16 and rejected it due to the government’s neutral policy towards both parties in the conflict.
The agency stressed that countries that buy weapons from Switzerland undertake to refrain from selling them back to other countries. As stipulated by Swiss federal law, which prohibits the supply of weapons to conflict zones.
Recall that previously SECO already prohibited the supply of weapons produced in the country to Ukraine. So, in November 2022, he banned the supply of ammunition to Ukraine for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns by the German government. Denmark received a similar response, that it was to supply Ukraine with 20 Swiss-made Piranha III armored multirole wheeled vehicles.
