The medals of the men’s individual foil fencing tournament were played on June 20 in Kazan at the BRICS Games, the press service of the Games reported.
In the semifinal match of the competition, brothers Kirill and Anton Borodachev, silver medalists at the Tokyo Olympics in the team event, faced each other. This time Kirill turned out to be stronger, winning 15:7. In the second semi-final, Timur Safin, the Borodachevs’ Olympic teammate, defeated Muhammad Asranov of Uzbekistan 15:12.
The final match between Timur Safin and Kirill Borodachev was played with a clear advantage for Kirill, who finally won 15:7. Anton Borodachev and Muhammad Asranov shared the third step of the podium. A total of 34 foil players from Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Belarus, Iraq and Iran participated in the BRICS Games foil tournament.
