The Vietnamese delegation participated in the fourth conference on the implementation of the UN Program to combat illicit arms trafficking, which was held on June 18 at the UN headquarters in New York, writes the newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Speaking at the conference, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang reaffirmed the importance of the United Nations Program to combat the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons and expressed concern about the risk associated with the proliferation of illicit weapons during and after the conflicts.
Drawing on Vietnamese national experience and regional practice, the head of the delegation invited conference participants to focus on discussing three main decisions.
According to him, it is necessary, first of all, to prevent the increase in armed conflicts in the world.
Secondly, we must show unity and implement United Nations programs together.
And thirdly, the fight against the illicit arms trade should not have a negative impact on the defense, security and social order of the countries of the world.
