The first major economic task that the new government will address at the international level is the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada (T-MEC) agreement in 2026, said the future Minister of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, in an interview with journalists on December 20. June.
He also noted that the conclusion of an economic agreement with Europe will be a serious problem.
In addition, Ebrard said, there is the task of attracting investments in which the country is interested. According to him, active and persistent activities must be carried out, as was the case with Tesla.
Among the industries that interest Mexico are microprocessors, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and others.
The promotion and protection of national companies, especially small ones, will also be an important task. Ebrard noted that he will work on the transition with the current Minister of Economy, Raquel Buen-Rostro, with whom he was a cabinet colleague in the previous cabinet.
