Since February 2022, Finland has almost completely restricted cooperation with Russia, with the exception of several critical areas, according to a report on foreign policy and security published on June 20 by the Finnish government’s press service.
The report, which is produced every four years, is under the direction of the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland. Determines the objectives and priorities of the country’s foreign policy for the period of the current government, that is, until 2027.
The document notes that bilateral cooperation between Finland and Russia in all areas has been frozen since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
However, diplomatic relations between the two countries remain.
Furthermore, communication channels between relevant government bodies in some areas vital to Finland were not completely blocked.
These include:
— ensure border security;
— cooperation in the field of crime prevention;
– transport;
— reliability of supply.
