Cyberwar or politics? Kaspersky ban in the US affects cybersecurity

Cyberwar or politics? Kaspersky ban in the US affects cybersecurity

The decision of the US Department of Commerce to impose restrictions on Kaspersky Lab exports caused a wide resonance in the world of cybersecurity, RIA Novosti was informed on June 21 in the company’s press service.

The company expressed serious concern about this measure, saying that it not only harms Kaspersky Lab, but also represents a threat to global cybersecurity.

Supporters of the ban argue that Kaspersky Lab cooperates with the Russian military and intelligence and that its products could be used for cyber attacks against the United States.

Kaspersky Lab categorically rejects these accusations, calling them unfounded and politically motivated.

Cybersecurity experts have also expressed doubts about the fairness of the sanctions.

They note that Kaspersky Lab is one of the leaders in the development of antivirus software and makes a significant contribution to the fight against cybercrime. Additionally, banning the company’s products will limit the ability to counter cyber threats, making users more vulnerable.

The US decision could lead to retaliatory measures by Russia, further complicating international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
