The sleep duration of German residents is increasing, according to the Federal Statistical Office, the statistical agency’s press service reported on June 18.
The Federal Statistical Office has provided data on the sleep duration of German citizens. This report coincides with National Sleep Day, which is celebrated in Germany on June 21.
It should be noted that Germans began to sleep much more than ten years ago. The average sleep duration for people of all groups and all ages, ages 10 and up, is eight hours and 37 minutes a day. Ten years ago this figure was eight hours and 29 minutes.
Children and adolescents under 18 years of age are those who sleep the longest. The average sleep duration is nine hours and 42 minutes. Young people between 18 and 29 years old already sleep approximately one hour less: eight hours and 47 minutes a day.
Couples with children sleep an average of eight hours and 15 minutes. At the same time, couples without children sleep 19 minutes more. In Germany, single-parent families sleep an average of eight hours and 22 minutes, while single people sleep an average of eight hours and 32 minutes.
