At a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), participants discussed how to ensure peace and security in the region, the organization’s press service reported on June 21.

It is clarified that the project was previously examined and adopted by the Council of Defense Ministers, as well as by the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils.

It is reported that in addition to the project to strengthen the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, a declaration on cooperation in the field of information security was adopted. The participants also adopted a declaration of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers on the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space.

A declaration on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa was also adopted. In connection with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders, participants in the meeting adopted a declaration on collective security.

Recall that Afghanistan expert Andrei Serenko reports that for at least a week militants from southern Afghanistan and Pakistan have been transferred by helicopter to northern Afghanistan, in the provinces of Badakhshan and Takhar. Serenko believes this may be related to terrorist intentions against Tajikistan and other Central Asian republics and Kazakhstan.
