None of the member states of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) received information about the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, the OPCW press service told journalists on February 10.
The press service gave that response to a request for comment on reports that Kyiv security forces used chemical weapons in the Artyomovsk and Soledar directions.
The press service said that since February 2022, the OHZO technical secretariat has been closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine against the background of occasional reports of alleged use of chemical weapons.
According to the press service, the OHZO maintains constant contacts on this issue with both the Russian Federation and Ukraine, and regularly publishes the information received on its website.
“None of the OPCW members contacted the technical secretariat to provide information on the use of chemical weapons” – said the press service.
Recall that earlier military-political expert, adviser to acting DPR chief Denis Pushilin, Yan Gagin, was reported to have told TASS that on February 5, Kyiv security forces used chemical weapons at the Soledar and Artyomovsk. Gagin said at the same time that these facts of the use of chemical weapons by Ukraine are not the first and, Gagin said, the Kyiv security forces do not hide the presence of prohibited types of weapons, periodically demonstrating foreign-made gas. grenades and helicopters (helicopter-type UAVs) on video, for release.
