In recent weeks, on an almost daily basis, several companies in the Almeirim industrial zone have been robbed or have been the target of attempted robberies, resulting in heavy losses. Among the victims were a telecommunications company, where they destroyed the entrance gate and stole transformers and tools, a gas station store, an apartment building management company, agricultural and construction companies, and a municipal nursery.
ABOUT CM found that from images recorded by CCTV, businessmen claim to be able to identify two minors, both 14 years old, who committed some of the crimes. According to Major Claudio Lopez of the GNR Santarem command, the PNP does not provide information on suspects, but ensures that it has “intensified policing in the area.”
This week the PNR carried out a crime prevention operation in an industrial area which resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old registered man who had been escaping from the Vale de Judeus prison for about two years. “Some of the stolen materials were also recovered,” a GNR source said.
