The second episode of Now ‘Optimista’ will air this Sunday at 8pm. Having visited the Casa da Seleção in Oeiras, António Costa and Pedro Mourinho are now showing off a car that is 100 percent made in Portugal, with the stamp of Salvador Caetano. The Toyota APM (Accessible People Mover) is a small electric vehicle that will transport athletes, members of various delegations, staff and mainly people with limited mobility during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, which begin on July 26.
Salvador Cayetano’s factory in Ovar will produce 200 units for now, and the Now journalist and former prime minister shows a little how everything is processed on this assembly line.
In the second episode of The Optimists, Pedro Mourinho and António Costa also reveal that Salvador Cayetano is also producing electric buses with hydrogen batteries for the Olympic Games, a type of vehicle already sold in European countries and Africa. Another strong message emerging from this program is that Portugal can become a leading country in the automotive industry in the future.
The journalist and former government official also visited the CEiiA company in Matosinhos, which designs, develops and operates new products and services for technologically advanced industries (automotive and mobility, aeronautics, marine and space), which thinks about technologies based on sustainable development.
