Andre Ventura says he has “no shame” over the way he questioned the mother of Portuguese-Brazilian twins

The leader of Chegi said this Monday that he was “not at all ashamed” of the way he questioned the mother of the twins, and noted that the party had proposed holding a hearing before a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the case of businessman José Magro.

“Contrary to what has been said by Pedro Nuno Santos and several representatives of the PSD, I have neither the shame nor the spirit of reconsidering the investigation that Chega carried out with Dr. Daniela Martins,” he said.

Speaking to reporters at Chega’s headquarters in Lisbon, Andre Ventura responded to criticism the party has faced in recent days following a hearing about the treatment of a mother of twins with the drug Zolgensma.

The Chegi leader argued that “it is necessary for someone to be able to hit the table, to be able to expose contradictions and omissions even in situations of complex emotionality or special vulnerability or fragility.”

“This is what I expect from other parties, not hours and hours of crying, emotionalism and protectionism, this is work, no matter who it harms and no matter the person in question, to ensure that this truth is achieved,” – he said.

Andre Ventura stated that “all parties must be concerned about the truth” and that the commission of inquiry would be able to establish the truth only “in an atmosphere of consensus, if others also stop worrying about emotions, false defenses or behind-the-scenes games.” ” and worry about the person being heard telling the truth.

The Chegi leader believed that “any father or mother will do everything to save their children, but this does not prevent them in the future, especially when the medicine has already been used, to tell the truth about the process that took place to obtain it, when the debt of gratitude is due attitude towards this country should also be very great.”

“To be the net recipient of a volume like this family, to benefit the health of your family members, and to come to this parliament to suppress the truth, hide it or simply manipulate it, is a disservice to the Portuguese who paid for it. such treatment,” he believed, accusing the mother of “absolute inconsistency, untruths, obvious omissions and contradictions” and that she lied to “protect someone.”

The MP also considered it a violation and “fraud” of the Portuguese health care system and “possibly the justice system in obtaining citizenship.”

Chegi’s coordinator at the commission of inquiry also told reporters that the party had asked to hear from businessman Jose Magro.

“The arrival on the scene of Jose Magro, as well as the now known characterization of the company that owns the Lusiads in 2019, should lead the commission of inquiry to pursue a different line of inquiry involving businesses, business partners and, ultimately, financial interests.” , he asserted.

Ventura indicated that José Magro, “a business manager accustomed to working as a mediator between Brazil and Portugal, close to Nuno Rebelo de Sousa, should be called to this commission to explain what kind of relationship exists not only in the economic but also in the political sphere.” “and provide the Assembly of the Republic with an explanation as to “how the appointment to Luciadas was made, who canceled it, and how this whole round was carried out.”

José Magro’s name surfaced at the latest hearing of the commission of inquiry led by BE MP Joana Mortagua. The blogger reported that Carlos Magro was aware of an email that the children’s mother sent to the director of Lusíadas asking for advice, and that later a business manager who would be close to Nuno Rebelo de Souza responded to this message to ensure support for this hospital and participation of Dr. Teresa Moreno.

As for the mother’s lawyer’s proposal to change the name of the investigative commission, Andre Ventura rejected it, considering that “there is no point in changing the name of the commission, especially for those who come here to say that we should change the name.”
