China will allow Polish citizens to enter the country without a visa for a period of 15 days. The measure was announced on Monday by state television CCTV in the context of a meeting in Beijing between Polish President Andrzej Duda and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jiping.
During the meeting between the two leaders, Xi Jinping defended China’s commercial ties with Russia, explaining that Beijing’s position on the war in Ukraine (a country bordering Poland) has not changed and that it remains committed to a political solution to the conflict.
Under Duda, who is in the final year of his presidential term, Poland has taken a pragmatic stance towards China, but the war in Ukraine has chilled relations between the Asian giant and the European Union and NATO member. Despite this, the two countries have agreed to several cooperation protocols on trade, agriculture, digital economy and green energy.
Poland also received a promise of greater openness of the Chinese market to Polish agricultural products.
