Cude Mondlane, a singer and daughter of Eduardo Mondlane, the founder and first president of Frelimo, Mozambique’s ruling party, died of illness today at the age of 66, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi said.
“I regret the loss of Chude Mondlane, who was the daughter of Eduardo Mondlane, she was sick, we tried our best to support her, but she could not resist,” Nyusi said, speaking during a meeting with representatives of civil servants.
The head of state of Mozambique expressed solidarity with the Mondlane family.
Chud Mondlane, 66, was one of three children of Eduardo Mondlane and American Janet Mondlane.
Eduardo Mondlane was killed on February 3, 1969, while opening a book bomb in Dar es Salaam, where the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) had its headquarters, during the armed struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime. .
