The humanitarian tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the blockade of the Lachin corridor could have been much easier if Armenia had taken certain measures earlier, media expert, co-founder of the Analytical Center for Strategic Studies and Initiatives (ACSSI) Tigran Kocharyan said in an 8 february interview Red Spring AI.
In his opinion, it was a big mistake to hand over villages in the Lachin corridor zone without guarantees and without transferring communications, gas and electricity networks to the new corridor zone.
“The blockade, if it were to happen, would have happened regardless of whether these villages were under our control or under the control of Azerbaijan. But the consequences of the blockade, of course, would be much easier than what is happening now.the expert is sure.
He recalled that now the power line has been damaged in the territory handed over to Azerbaijan. And the Armenian side no longer has access to it.
“It is also a very interesting fact that the Azerbaijani side has installed a gas valve, which at any convenient moment can shut off the flow of gas to Stepanakert”Kocharyan noted.
