German authorities believe a moat at the Gelsenkirchen stadium will improve safety for Portugal’s game against Georgia on Wednesday. We are talking about fans invading fields in an attempt to greet Cristiano Ronaldo and take pictures with him.
“With regard to possible incursions into the playing field, this stadium has a moat that naturally prevents attempts,” he explained CM PSP source present in Germany. “However, we have been informed that the number of stewards will be increased and some internal procedures will be changed,” the same source added after a meeting between the Public Security Police, German authorities and UEFA.
The national team coach does not hide his concern. Roberto Martinez, in addition to confirming that the Seleção captain will start, once again raised the issue of safety. “Invasions are dangerous and harmful to the image of football.
