The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) is forecasting worsening weather conditions in mainland Portugal from the afternoon, with occasional heavy rainfall accompanied by hail and thunderstorms.
IPMA forecasts that the deterioration of weather conditions will continue until next Sunday, the 30th, due to the action of a depression centered west of the Iberian Peninsula and which will move northeast from Saturday, thus causing a gradual improvement in the weather.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the northern interior this afternoon, most often in mountainous areas.
On Thursday, instability will be more widespread in the afternoon across inland northern and central regions, with occasional heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder, sometimes hail, and locally strong wind gusts possible. .
This situation will continue throughout the day on Friday, extending across the mainland as IPMA forecasts the most severe weather on that day.
Technicians expect significant deterioration in the weather on Saturday, with rain still falling, especially in the northern and central regions, but less intense than in previous days, and no precipitation expected from Sunday.
Temperatures are also expected to cool through Saturday, with a gradual recovery from Sunday as the weather improves.
Due to this meteorological situation, warnings have already been issued for the next few days.
