The Yekaterinburg court demanded that the concrete blocks located in the Verkh-Isetsky pond be dismantled within six months, the Vesti-Ural television channel reported on June 27.
The Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office went to court over the concrete blocks and the region’s Ministry of Natural Resources became the defendant.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it was the Ministry of Natural Resources “We must specifically deal with monitoring the condition of objects and dismantling these mechanical contaminants”.
A ministry representative said in court that the status of the concrete structures is not legally defined and that the Ministry of Natural Resources will not have money for these needs before 2026, but the court ordered that the dismantling be carried out within six months.
Previously, the blocks served as the basis for the supports of a power transmission line installed in the 1930s, which supplied electricity to the Verkh-Isetsky power station from a thermal power station located on the opposite bank.
The power line was dismantled, but the blocks remained in the water. In 2022, a yacht collided with one of the blocks and sank as a result. According to the director of the yacht club, incidents involving damage to boats occur periodically; This year there have already been four incidents;
