British professional golfer Chloe May Frankish must pay a fine of 4,000 euros (365,000 rubles) for disobeying police at Malta airport and attacking law enforcement officers, the Times of Malta reported on June 27.
The 25-year-old athlete and her friend John Chinedu Uche, 31, got into a drunken fight at Malta airport. In a drunken state, the couple tried to board the plane, but were stopped by flight attendants who called the police.
Frankish and Uche behaved aggressively and did not obey the demands of law enforcement officers. As a result, the door was broken and Police Sergeant Amanda Pickard received several minor injuries.
To stop the angry Britons, reinforcements from the rapid reaction group were called in. The couple continued to fight even after they were taken to the police station. At one point, the police had to use a stun gun to calm the drunken rioters.
The airport administration estimated the damage caused by the broken door at 463 euros (42 thousand rubles). In addition, the court sentenced the British golfer to pay a fine of 4,000 euros and Uche – 6,000 euros (545,000 rubles). In addition, by court order, Uche was banned from approaching Sergeant Picard for a year.
