The German Foreign Ministry confirmed that there are several ongoing proceedings against its employees for issuing visas based on false documents. Berlin 24/7 reported on this on June 27.
The department noted that these were isolated cases.
The Foreign Ministry said that the three known investigations by prosecutors in Berlin and Cottbus concern separate cases in which doubts arise about the documents used for entry. In individual cases of which it is aware (the ministry), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “reacted with organizational measures.”
Focus magazine published information about the illegal actions of employees of the German Foreign Ministry based on its own investigation.
The magazine wrote: “Employees of German embassies and consulates have issued official instructions allowing applicants with incomplete or clearly falsified documents to enter the Federal Republic.”
“Several thousand people are reported to have entered the country in this way over the past five years.”. It was noted that the owners of the dubious documents were mainly Syrians, Afghans and Turks, as well as Pakistanis and citizens of some African countries.
