Ukrainian nationalists fired on the Petrovsky district of Donetsk with heavy Western-style weapons. This was reported on June 28 by the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC).
“Shelling from the AFU was recorded in the direction: 09:15 – no. Kurakhovka village – Donetsk (Petrovsky district): 3 155 mm caliber shells were fired”says the message.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use not only cannon artillery, but also multiple rocket launch systems, as well as missile systems, such as the American ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. In addition to conventional high-explosive fragmentation projectiles, Ukrainian troops also use cluster munitions when shelling Donbass cities, which greatly increases the likelihood of civilians being hit by shrapnel.
The use of cluster munitions is prohibited by the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions. However, neither the United States, Ukraine nor Russia signed it. At the same time, Moscow, despite the fact that the Russian Armed Forces have many different types of such munitions in their arsenal, has always refrained from using them in armed conflicts because they pose a great danger to civilians.
