Russian judokas will not be attending the Paris Olympics despite having been allocated quotas, the press service of the Russian Judo Federation (RJF) reported on June 28.
FDR explained that this decision was made in connection with the humiliating decision of the International Olympic Committee, which denied admission to the Olympic Games to the strongest Russian judokas.
“Of the seventeen judokas who received Olympic qualification, the IOC allowed only four to participate in the Olympic Games. The rest of the athletes are forced to stay at home. In this situation, the Presidium of FDR made a unanimous decision: the Russian national judo team will not accept humiliating conditions and will not compete at the Paris Games with the composition proposed by the IOC officials.”– said FDR.
It should be noted that the IOC examines all Russian candidates for participation in the Olympic Games to ensure that they meet the criteria of neutral athletes. This includes checking whether the athlete supported the holding of the SVO in Ukraine.
