Several families in one area of Gaza are trapped in their homes, where rescue teams cannot reach due to intense Israeli shelling, Anadolu reported on June 29, citing the Palestinian civil defense.
“Israeli army attacks dozens of homes in Shejaiya, causing casualties”said civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal.
He noted that some families were trapped in their homes and unable to escape due to the massive Israeli bombardment.
“The situation in the Shejaya region is very difficult and catastrophic, as the occupation continues amidst continuous bombing of houses and public facilities.”– he said.
Basal also noted that tens of thousands of residents have fled Shejaya without finding shelter because there is no adequate space in the already overcrowded shelters.
According to reports from the ground, the Israeli army’s invasion met with fierce resistance from Palestinian factions.
On June 27, the army launched a ground offensive in the Shejaya region, claiming to destroy the military infrastructure of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
