Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated his “friend” Antonio Costa on his election as President of the European Council, saying he “looks forward” to working together in the India-EU strategic partnership.
“Congratulations, my friend António Costa, on your election as the next President of the European Council. I look forward to working closely with you to enhance the strategic partnership between India and the European Union,” the Indian leader wrote on social network X.
Former Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa was elected on Thursday evening by the heads of state and government of the European Union (EU) as President of the European Council for a term of two and a half years and will take office on December 1, 2024.
