An unexploded aerial bomb weighing 250 kg, dropped during World War II, was found near the Tesla plant near Berlin, the Berliner Telegraph reported on June 28.
An aerial bomb was discovered during construction work. Given the impossibility of safe transportation, the experts decided to carry out an explosion at the site. The exact evacuation radius has not yet been determined, but to ensure safety, traffic will be temporarily blocked on two suburban roads. According to preliminary data, railway communication will not be affected. At the moment there is no information about the suspension of production at the Tesla plant. The DPA agency clarified that the bomb found was British-made.
In the second half of World War II, more than 2 million bombs of various calibres were dropped on Nazi Germany, and about 20% of them failed to explode. These finds are still periodically discovered during construction work or on road layouts. They usually do not pose a threat to human life, as sappers quickly neutralise them within a few hours.
Tesla’s factory, known as Gigafactory 4, began operations on March 22, 2022 in Grünheide, near Berlin. The company currently employs around 12,000 people.
