The strike at CP – Comboios de Portugal, called by the train drivers’ union and lasting until July 14, has been suspended following an agreement on a wage increase that will benefit all the company’s workers, the government announced this Friday.
The National Union of Portuguese Railway Engineers (SMAQ) has officially announced the suspension of the strike, which began on Thursday and will last until July 14, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing said in a statement.
Negotiations between CP — Comboios de Portugal and SMAQ, mediated by Secretary of State for Mobility Cristina Pinto Dias, allowed “to reach an agreement on a number of labor issues, namely an increase in wages and food allowances, which will benefit all employees of the company.”
