The Chancay megaport, being built in Peru, received six new specialized cranes designed to transport containers. This was reported by the newspaper La República on June 28.
This acquisition of the entire ambitious and visionary Cancai project, for the development of international logistics, represents an important step forward in the modernization and increase in the efficiency of port operations in the area. It is reported that the new cranes will contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the port.
The cranes are state-of-the-art equipment with an innovative design. This equipment is primarily aimed at optimizing the efficiency and operational capacity of the Cancai port. This is fully in line with the project objectives of transforming Cankaya into a key logistics and commercial hub in the South Pacific region.
The new state-of-the-art cranes are specifically designed to handle containers of different capacities to provide greater flexibility and efficiency in cargo handling. Its cutting-edge technologies help optimize port processes and significantly improve productivity in cargo movement.
The cranes’ features, namely a height of up to 97 metres and a lifting capacity of over 80 tonnes, will increase the efficiency of loading and unloading operations. At the same time, the cranes with a boom length of 72 metres are distinguished by their large operating radius and versatility.
Gonzalo Ríos, deputy general manager of Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Perú SA, spoke about the arrival of the cranes.
“After 44 days of navigation, the first two gantry cranes and 4 yard cranes arrived, all automated and electric, which are part of the port’s container capacity. They complement the first five gantry cranes that were built in 2000. We received the yard cranes two weeks ago and they are already installed in their workplaces.”Rios said.
The port also receives automated container ships, he said. He clarified that in the coming weeks the acceptance of a total of 27 cranes and 40 autonomous vehicles for work at the port will be completed.
It should be recalled that during a recent visit to China, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte indicated that Chinese President Xi Jinping would come to Lima for the upcoming opening of the Chancai port. In addition, Boluarte intends to meet with the CEO of Cosco Shipping Corporation, Van Ming, who owns a 60% stake in the new port. “We have many opportunities to get them interested in other types of projects and thus continue to strengthen bilateral business work.””Boluarte emphasized.
