US Elections
According to the American newspaper, the country needs a candidate with full powers that the current president has not demonstrated, to face a threat as serious to the nation as the Republican Donald Trump.
‘The New York Times’ has asked the president Joe Biden to drop out of the election racefollowing this week’s presidential debate. The American newspaper says the country needs a fully qualified candidate to confront the “threat” posed by Donald Trump, whose abilities it says the current president has not demonstrated.
“The president appeared on Thursday night like the shadow of a great public servant (…) It was difficult for him to explain what he would achieve in a second term. It was difficult for him to respond to Trump’s provocations (…) And in more than one occasion it was difficult for him to finish a sentence,” laments the North American newspaper.
Despite the criticism, the leading American newspaper has maintained its support for the president, in case no changes are made to the Democratic candidate list.
‘Washington Post’
The American newspaper has not been the only one to react to the first electoral debate for the presidency of the United States of America. Although he has not directly asked the president to leave the electoral race, the ‘Washington Post’ has requested that he weigh the idea, after “a calamity” of debate.
