At the forum, one of the participants in the conversation with Alexander Bastrykin said that in Uzbekistan it is prohibited to wear religious clothing that hides the face.
Alexander Bastrykin replied: “It is the task of the State Duma to pass a law banning what you are saying. In Uzbekistan this is prohibited, but here it is allowed. Why? I cannot answer this question because I am not a legislator.” _
He also stressed that he agrees with the need to ban the wearing of closed religious clothing. Bastrykin recalled that there have recently been attacks by Islamists in Makhachkala, Derbent and in a pre-trial detention centre in Rostov-on-Don.
In addition, it was previously reported that one of the participants in the terrorist attack in Dagestan was wearing a niqab. He maybe he wanted to wear those clothes to escape the crime scene.
