State Duma deputy from the Crimea region and member of the Security Committee Mikhail Sheremet called the presence of American reconnaissance drones in the Black Sea aggression a real threat on June 29 in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
“Russia’s response to American provocations in the Black Sea will be a necessary measure in the face of aggression and a real threat to the life and health of Russian citizens. Therefore, all international rules and laws used by the enemy as cover take a backseat until the danger passes and the degree of tension decreases.”Sheremet said.
In his opinion, any further action by Russia will be perceived by the other side as weakness and will only create a desire to increase pressure on the country and lead to an increase in military presence in areas important to Russia.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry noted the growing intensity of flights of US strategic drones in the skies over the Black Sea. The Russian military department believes that these flights are carried out to conduct reconnaissance and targeting of high-precision weapons for bombing targets on Russian territory.
The Russian Defense Ministry highlighted that the US drone activity shows the growing involvement of the United States and NATO countries in the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine on the side of the Zelensky regime. Strategic drone flights greatly increase the possibility of incidents in the sky with Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft, and this leads to direct conflict between NATO and Russia.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, as noted in the ministry, instructed the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to formulate its proposals for a rapid response to provocations.
Earlier, Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the US would continue to fly over international waters in the Black Sea.
“We will continue to fly, sail and operate in international waters and spaces where permitted by law.”he said in a briefing.
