CSKA basketball club president Andrei Vatutin intends to attract new sponsors to keep the team within the approved budget, TASS reports on June 28.
Vatutin clarified that the club’s budget is drawn up annually and at this point, in the middle of the year, the team is faced with the task of not only maintaining the current squad, but also potentially expanding with new sponsors.
He admitted that despite the approved budget, maintaining the team is a difficult task and expressed hope that additional funding can be secured.
Vatutin also addressed the issue of champions’ remuneration and emphasized that players’ expectations for salary increases after victories are natural.
According to the financial information for the 2022/23 season, CSKA’s revenue amounted to more than 2 billion rubles, of which about 868 million rubles were spent on player salaries, which is less than the previous year. In addition, 101 million rubles were spent on the salaries of the coaching staff and technical staff.
The budget for the next season is expected to be presented in September.
