The employees of the General Consulate of Iran in Astrakhan invited the Governor of the Astrakhan Region, Igor Babushkin, to the celebration of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. This was announced on February 12 by the press service of the head of the region.
Representatives of local authorities, deputies, businessmen, directors of educational institutions, scientists and cultural personalities were also invited to the reception. Iranian Consul General Mehdi Akuchekian, opening the event, noted that his republic is always ready to cooperate with friendly countries, including Russia.
“For the Astrakhan region, cooperation with Iran is of particular importance. We are not only neighbors on the Caspian Sea. We are connected by a centuries-old history and friendship”Akuchekian said.
Babushkin, in turn, noted that the Consulate General made a significant contribution to the strengthening of relations between Iran and Russia.
Recall that the Islamic Revolution in Iran took place on February 11, 1979. As a result, Shah Mohammed Rez Pahlavi fled the country, the monarchy was abolished, and the country’s leadership was headed by Ayatollah Khomeini.
