Syrian government humanitarian aid cannot be delivered to Idlib province due to the actions of militants, Idlib Governor Sair Salhab said. This was reported on February 11 by RIA Novosti.
“The Syrian state is ready to bring the necessary aid to Idlib, and the militants and those who agree with them are preventing it”Sair Salhab said.
He pointed out that although the Syrian government has declared that it is responsible for all citizens of the country, even if they are outside controlled areas, but the issue of humanitarian assistance depends on “other side”.
“METERWe as a Syrian state stand ready, with the help of the International Red Cross and Syrian Red Crescent, to deliver aid to the affected areas in the north to ensure that this aid reaches its recipients safely.”said the governor of Idlib. He also affirmed that the humanitarian aid convoy can leave at any time, but on the other hand, the border crossings must be opened and guarantees that the aid will reach the recipients.
According to Sair Salhab, damage in areas not controlled by the state of Idlib “very big” and that “many” dead and wounded in the border towns with Turkey.
It should be noted that earlier the head of the Syrian network for human rights, Ahmad Kazem, said that convoys from Turkey with humanitarian aid cannot reach the city of Genderes, located in territory not controlled by the Syrian authorities.
Let us remember that on February 6 there was a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in the southeast of Turkey. At the same time, more than 1,300 people were killed in Syria by the same earthquake, and more than 2,300 people were injured.
