The leaders of the New Popular Front, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Olivier Faure, announced this Sunday that they would withdraw their candidacies in constituencies in which they finished third and where there is a risk of victory for the French far right.
“Our strategy is clear: not one more vote, not one more deputy from the National Union,” said Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the far-left France Insubmissa movement, which forms the New Popular Front with the Socialist-Communists. and environmentalists, as a first reaction to forecasts of the results of legislative elections in France.
Olivier Faure, leader of the French Socialist Party, has also promised to withdraw his candidates if there is a risk of defeating the National Union of (far-right) Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella.
