Cape Verde’s prime minister begins a visit to the United States on Tuesday that includes celebrating Cape Verde’s Independence Day, July 5, with the diaspora.
“Independence Day [49 anos] “This is a call for unity, solidarity, work and trust in building a more developed Cape Verde, an aspiration of all Cape Verdeans,” Ulisses Correia e Silva said on Monday, announcing the visit.
On Tuesday, Ulisses Correia e Silva takes part in the “Cape Verde Investment Forum 2024 in Boston”, an event organized by the state-owned foreign promotion company (Cabo Verde TradeInvest).
The highlight of the program will be a gala concert scheduled for Wednesday that will honor Cape Verdean citizens and institutions that excel in their fields in the United States.
On Friday, a public holiday in Cape Verde, the archipelago’s flag will be raised at the local government building.
The Boston region concentrates much of the Cape Verdean diaspora in the United States, one of the main destination countries for the 1.5 million Cape Verdeans living abroad, three times the population living on the islands.
