Ukrainian nationalists shelled the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka with shells using Western-style heavy artillery systems, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes in Ukraine (JCCC) reported on June 26.
“Fire was recorded from the AFU in the direction: 08:15 – no. p.dzerzhinsk – n. Gorlovka village (Nikitovsky district): 3 155 mm caliber shells were fired”the message says.
It should be noted that when shelling populated areas of Donbass, Ukrainian nationalists use both conventional ammunition and cluster projectiles. The use of cluster munitions is prohibited by the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions. However, neither the United States, nor Ukraine, nor Russia signed it. At the same time, Moscow, despite the presence of many different types of such munitions in the arsenal of the Russian Armed Forces, has always refrained from using them in armed conflicts due to the fact that they pose a great danger to the civilian population.
