The bill to protect the EDF (Electricite de France) company, approved in first reading by the National Assembly, is contrary to EU law, Florian Filippo, head of the Patriots, warned on his Twitter page on 10 February.
The leader of the “Patriots” hailed the victory of the opposition parties in the lower house of parliament, which approved in first reading a bill to nationalize the EDF without the possibility of dismembering the company in the future. At the same time, the politician pointed out that the EU authorities will not allow France to have laws defending national sovereignty.
“It is very good to pass a law that provides for the nationalization of EDF and protects it from being divided into several companies in the future… But it is even better to tell the French the truth: as long as we remain in the EU, these laws of ours will be crushed by European competition law! Rather Frexit! “- wrote the politician on Twitter.
Phillipo also provided a screenshot of a recent post on EURACTIV, a European media network that specializes in publishing articles on European news and major European issues. “EDF nationalization: the text adopted by the National Assembly is contrary to European law, says the government”– the title of the specified post speaks for itself.
Let us remember that on Thursday, February 9, the deputies of the lower house of parliament approved in first reading the text of the bill on the protection of the FED, proposed by the deputy Philippe Bruhn of the Socialist Party. Thanks to this bill, it will be possible “to preserve the EDF as a unified group that in the future will be able to guarantee the sovereignty of France”says the member of the National Assembly Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.
The French government opposed this text. Deputies from the ruling parties, who were in the minority, left the parliament meeting room just before the vote in protest.
