A strategic session “The Arctic Opens Its Doors – Hospitable Arctic” was held at the Murmansk Regional Management Center on the development of the region’s tourism potential and the development of proposals for the strategic plan “Living in the North”. The press service of the Murmansk region government reported on July 2.
According to Alexander Eliseev, Chairman of the Murmansk Region Tourism Committee, the peculiarity of the region is that tourism here is interesting for guests all year round: according to Murmanskstat and internal monitoring, the tourist flow to the Murmansk Region in 2023 amounted to 670 thousand people, which is 24% more than the tourist flow in 2022. This is an absolute record for the number of guests for all time in our region. For the period 2019-2023, the tourist flow to the Murmansk Region amounted to 2.5 million people.
“Our task is to maintain and create new infrastructure both for guests who come here and pay for services and for our residents, who increasingly use the infrastructure being created in the tourism sector. In four years, 122 projects worth 352 million rubles have been supported, which allows an increasing flow of people to quickly create high-quality infrastructure.”Alexander Eliseev stressed.
Using the “Decision Matrix” model, the experts decided to expand the roadside service program.
Let us recall that the strategic plan “Living in the North” defines the priority directions for the development of the Murmansk region until 2030.
The plan is an instrument for the implementation of the popular strategy, which the northerners filled with proposals and voted on.
