The decrease in the number of deliveries of cigarettes and cigarettes to Russia is associated with a decrease in their consumption, experts said, on February 12, RIA Novosti reported.
“This downward trend most likely reflects a general decline in the consumption of sticks and other tobacco products”– said the owner of the tobacco consulting agency Fedotov Group Evgeny Fedotov.
He added that the decrease in the supply of this product may be due to a drop in the population’s income, as well as an increase in smuggling and counterfeiting.
It is reported that the largest tobacco manufacturer Philip Morris International (PMI) reduced the volume of shipments of tobacco products to Russia by 6% in 2022. At the same time, according to experts, such a percentage reduction is “the usual figure of decline per year.
Philip Morris was founded in London in 1847. PMI is the owner of the IQOS tobacco heating system brand.
