Trade between Vietnam and China nearly hit USD 100 billion in the first six months of 2024, VNA reported on July 2.
The Vietnamese government has highlighted the impressive recovery of bilateral trade between the two countries, despite global economic difficulties and ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
China remains Vietnam’s largest trading partner, largest import market and second largest export market.
Vietnam’s exports to China reached $27.8 billion in the first half of 2024, up 5.3% from the same period last year. During the reporting period, Vietnam imported goods worth $67 billion from China, up 34.7% from the previous year. Vietnam’s trade deficit amounted to $39.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 67.9%.
To date, about a dozen agricultural products from Vietnam have been officially exported to China, and negotiations on the official export of fresh coconuts and frozen durian have been completed.
